They have a live band, when they stop, and they also collect canned food for the local food banks. I dug out some canned goods, and left them with the enginner shortly before the second photo was taken.

It is hard to get a clean shot of it parked, as there are kids running around, and parents walking right in front of anyone with a camera on a tripod. Every soccer mom is firing away with their $99 pocket cams with the pop up flash, of the family standing by the nose of the train, and there is zero lights on that side of the yard in that town.

The bridge shot is always a risky shot on if they will or will not stop, and we were told we would have one minute, but I think they started counting from the time he chopped the throttle, as I only got this one shot in, and we had no idea how far out he would pull the train. We had just had over 2 inches of rain, and the river was moving very fast and was dirty too. Also there was some blue styrofoam insulation trapped in the water just to the left of the frame, which changed where I could shoot from.

It was taken in the old town of Galt. They had just left a performance stop just to the right of the photo, and where then headed about 8-10 track miles west where the second photo was taken. I should have chased it to its next stop about an hour west and shot the band on the last stop.

I would have liked at least three different comps of the train on the bridge, and about 5 minutes later, but you can't always get what you want......LOL

Well although it's too late for this years run It stops close enough to home that I'll have to do a check on a couple of large bridges to see if they are wide open like in your shot plus have a decent view without needing an 800 mm lens. Going from memory the one I think has a good viewing spot may have a superstructure.
