It finally clicked and I am going with the 35L. Zoom is useful, but honestly comparing hundreds and hundreds of sample shots from the lens sample threads between the 2 lenses was all it took. So many photos from this thread make me say 'ooh nice' and so few from the 24-70 thread did NOT. That isn't to say the 24-70 isn't a great lens and can't make some amazing captures, because it can -- I just think I want to define my style by shooting with the 35L primarily to complement my 135L. In closing, I just wanted to thank all of you who contributed to this thread to help me make up my mind -- as I am usually a very indecisive person (I'm working on that!). I will be ordering this lens tonight and hopefully should have it next week along with my 135L that I already ordered. I come from the 24-70L & 70-200L combination to a 35L 85 1.8 135L combination ( and my little 17-40 ) And the best thing I ever did was getting rid of the 24-70 by replacing him with a 35L. You won't regret it. Zoom versatility is great, but the 35L is even greater Automotive & Event Photographer in Belgium

I feel in lower light f/2 would force me to use higher ISO than I would like. Nikon D810 | 24-70/2.8G | 58/1.4G

In the future I do have plans to maybe add the 17-40 for really wide group shots and other UWA shots. Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer

Dropped it last week though, off to repairs http://www.flickr.com/photos/billyfung/
