How do you have your Rebel T3 set up?

Got my wife a Rebel T3 so she could move up from her p&s. How do you have yours setup?

To me, the most important initial setup is single point auto-focus. For that, you'll have to give up the full auto modes and use P, M, Av, or Tv. Letting the camera decide where to focus frequently leads to disappointment.
