Hellooo!

On Wednesday I accompanied my mother on a walk in the Brecon Beacons. It was incredibly windy, and there was a lot of cloud, but I took a few photographs ... I've decided to return to Black and White for these, something I haven't done any of in a while ... opinions on this would be appreciated.

Starting our walk towards Cribyn:

Looking back down at the (Talybont, possibly) reservoir:

View from the top of (must have been, you couldn't see anything atop Pen Y Fan) Cribyn:

Looking back (with increasingly less visibility) towards Cribyn on the climb of Pen Y Fan:

Occupy Brecon? (In that wind, I'd rather him than me.)

Somewhere on the ridge back down:

Any and all forms of C would be appreciated. Many thanks ...

Yours, occupying POTN,

Owain.

absolutely fantastic series! You got all these on a walk with your mother? Not sure the vignetting affect works on all the photos.

Come with me...i'll take you places.

Mum appreciated the rest stops sometimes, other times I was stopped to wait for her (her uphill speed isn't helped by her heart condition sometimes, and her downhill speed isn't helped by her dislike or walking down steep slopes) so I had a couple of minutes to grab the camera and take a picture ...

Thanks. I generally get some feedback about the vignette, and for some reason I still put it on ... I like it, being that reason. But I'm aware it's not universally popular ...

The color tone works well with these. Great series.

Ditto on vignetting. Very effective on the top two, but thereafter either overdone or inappropriate for the images. I particularly like your color tone here. Nice work.

Thanks for your feedback ...

A couple of you have mentioned colour tone, I'm hoping my monitor isn't severely mis-calibrated and that this still applies to Black and White images ...

Thanks for the compliment ...

Slightly concerned by the colour tone, which really shouldn't be there as I did the Black and White through the master saturation channel ...

They look great, done the fan dance a few times :-)
I don't know if you can do some localised editing to bring out some detail in the clouds?
They figure heavily in the shots so may benefit from some tweaking.
I may be talking bollocks as I'm viewing on my iPad :-)

Cheers. It's a good little walk, although the route down from the ridge wasn't brilliant at this time of year - unless you're keen to get some practice in for Cheese Rolling ...

I'm tempted to say that it might be the iPad but, given that there's some doubt as to whether my screen isn't displaying green things, I'm not going to be definitive on that ...
