Recently picked up a 7D and want to know if the HD video capabilities on the 7D camera is equivalent to the 5D MKII. If not, what are the differences between their HD video and what makes the 5D MKII HD quality better?

5D is a full frame camera and the 7D is a crop for starters.

So does this affect HD video quality? Yes, I'm aware of the differences in the sensor full-frame sizes and I'm okay with the cropped or smaller sensor in the 7D to start. The video capability is a primary reason why I chose the 7D and if it's not as clear as the 5D MKII, then perhaps I might have to upgrade down the line.

The best comparisons, regarding video, are made by videographers themselves. In http://www.zacuto.com/shootout (external link) you can read and watch two series of shootout tests (2010 and 2011), comparing the Canons (5d, 1d4 and 7D) with professional film and digital video cameras.

o.O

The 7D did better in the over-exposure test (window) than both the 1D4 and 5D2? *rubbing eyes in disbelief*

How could that be?

But all 3 Canon's did poorly resolving the details of the red dress under the same scene.
