I can't seem to get my lens to AF in any mode except Auto.
I know it works, but I can't figure why it stopped working in all the other modes?
I'm so afraid the answer is going to be obvious and embarrassing

C.Fn III is Autofocus/Drive but there is nothing in the 5 settings there that look suspicious. What happens when you push the AF-ON button on the rear panel? Are you referring the the AF setting button on the top? That changes from "one shot" to "servo". It's set at one shot. AF on the menu is set to "Live Mode" but changing them doesn't make any difference. How about the * button? There is no indication that it has been pressed; it doesn't appear on any display; which, of course, it does when I press it. Michael

In the CF 2: 2 position it will AF when the * button is pressed. This separates the AF function from the exposure function (still on the shutter button). Actually, the thread title notwithstanding, we're talking about a 60D, not a D60. "Be seeing you."

It just takes a little practice to learn to use it well. Since learning to use BBF some years ago, I hardly ever turn it off now. Ok, I see how it might be worth doing; I'll give a try. The copy of 60D manual I've got confirms it's C.Fn IV-1, but - oddly - it doesn't detail the different available settings. On all the other models I've used, default 0 like you've set leaves AF at the shutter release button. Ya, I thought that was odd too. It shows the C.Fn IV -1 setting, but it fails to point out that there are 9 available options in that setting. Michael
