I guess I had better results when a lady asked if she wanted us to take a picture of my son and I at the zoo. I said sure, set the camera to full auto and handed it to her. I thought the shot was doomed when she tried to look at the LCD to frame the shot. Didn't turn out too bad though...

Why is the high-chair getting all the compliments? Personally, I can't help but be drawn to the ever-so-attractive whiteboard posing next to it.

On a funny side note, we were at a friends for dinner and a buddy's wife said, hey let me see your camera. I said sure. She said ohhh, is it digital? Oh yes mam. She picks it up and starts doing the PS routine- looking to see her content on the LCD. errr.. No, no you have to look thru the view finder, Its a SLR. Ok, "Single lens reflex" she says and goes back to looking at the LCD. It's not on she says. At this point, I tell her the batteries must be dead. You are luck with your photographer, at least they squeezed off a picture.

I had a similar experience last summer. My brother got married and I was in the wedding party, so obviously couldn't take any shots. So I decided to ask one of the bride's friends to take some pictures with my camera.
I told her it was an SLR and to just turn it on and shoot, (I had set it on auto).
Afterwards I asked her if she got any good pics, and she said the camera wouldn't even turn on.

Curtis.... your camera has a rear focusing problem :D (j/k)

Reminds me of the time I did some family portraits for my wifes friend. Big family, did some shots down by a river, some by a landmark. I had my camera on a tripod, using a remote. I positioned the people on the picnic table, made sure that my focusing point was on the middle person, then stepped away from the camera and used the remote. When I started working on the pictures, the whole series of shots with this one part of the family had wonderful pictures. One small problem. The trees on the other side of the river was in focus, not the family.

At the clubs people i know take some pics for me, and they do the same thing!! then i say, no you cant do that - makes you wonder why a $200 camera can, but a $3000 camera cant :
