First shots with my new 300mm and 1.4x extender. First impressions are... I love it, easily the sharpest lens in my bag but even with the extender you still need to get really close!

I know the subject isn't anything exotic (we all have to start somewhere) but as a total noob to bird photography any comments are welcome, I was wary of doing too much processing to keep the birds as natural as poss... have I been too restrained?

Justin, this is not a forum for exotic birds. It's about good bird images, regardless of species. And these are real nice shots. The birds seem a tad soft maybe, so you could try a bit of selective sharpening, but other than that, very nice.
Great lens, the 300mm isn't it? Don't be afraid to use it wide open!

Thanks Levina, they look sharper in lightroom but I'll try tweaking them a bit more.
