Can't see the golf course...there's a huge tree blocking my view. What's the subject? What's the point of the image?

Well I like that you were looking for something interesting. I'm a sunset-a-holic lol However, this needs a better composition though if it's going to be interesting. Try to find better framing with the tree. If none, then move around the golf course in search of better vantage points.

Nicely exposed considering the sun was directly in your field of view. I don't understand why such a high ISO though. Can't tell becasue the image is too small but (from my experience with my XSi) there's probably a good amount of noise.

I will admit that the subject of the photo isnt' clear. The tree being directly in the center spilts the photos in half. it just doesnt' make sense to me.

Incognito, when I first started in photography, I used to shoot everything and anything ... why not, it doesn't cost me anything to shoot digitally. It's a good way for me to compare the difference between my vision and the camera's ability to capture my vision.

One thing that I do when I show my photos to others is think about what other people are seeing (or what I want them to see). In other words, put yourself in other people's shoes, if you had shown this photo to someone, what would you think? What do you see? Do you think it's a good photo? The more you put these into consideration, the less likely you'll put random photos up (no more I got bored and took a photo of my foot, what do you think photos).

I do the same thing all the time when I'm editing. If I shoot 100 photos, I will be really happy if there are 5 great photos and 1 or 2 exceptional photos. There may be 20 photos that I like, but I will save these for myself and the remaining photos goes to archive.

I hope this helps and happy shooting.

No problem.

Editing is something that many people have problems with. We usually include too many photos. If you look at your friend's facebook albums, you'll know ... "here's 800 of our latest vacation photos, enjoy" or "look how cute our son is ... here's 200 photos to prove".

I've gotten a lot better with editing. In the past, I'll be over inclusive and show photos that are mediocre. However, it's a good thing that my wife looks over my stuff and ask me these questions. I used to hate it when she goes, "hmmmm .... why do you like this picture?" .... I hate because it's a question that implied she didn't like the photo :D
