Dec 12, 2011 00:53 | #17 Are you shooting in manual, AV, or P mode? maybe the camera is in AV and trying to make the shutter speed the "proper" speed for a non flashed photo, like half a second or something. Try setting to manual and making your shutter 1/100th sec, ISO-400, f/3.5 or whatever your best is, with your flash on ETTL and use the diffuser. Your camera is dragging your shutter (leaving it open) and you are getting light trails after your shot. Manual mode will force a faster shutter to stop the action and the flash on ETTL will figure out the correct flash level.
