I can't see the issues you mention....may be time to have my eyes checked or are the issues really hard to spot?

Look at the 70 on the picture of the lens. I think the color there is being created by the lens and not the lighting. You normally only see this in the corners on rounded surfaces at wide aperatures. You might have gotten a bad lens.

Dec 13, 2011 16:30 | #21 frugivore is correct. Photozone tests all the lenses for LoCA, and what you've observed in your 50/1.4 is plainly visible in their tests (though I don't actually see a particularly bad example of it in your test shots). If this sort of thing bothers you in general, fast primes shot wide open might not be your thing. 5DSR, 6D, 16-35/4L IS, 85L II, 100L macro, Sigma 150-600C

If it has focusing issues, get it calibrated. I've shot with entirely too many 50s and I own the Sigma. There's a reason for that. yeah instant love for me with the sigma 50. guess I was fortunate too in that I got a "good" copy as they say....albeit I have no reference for anything but. You may say I'm a Zoomer, But I'm not the only one

Yes, I can see it too, the 5 in "135" has the green fringe, and the 5 in "50" and 3 in "35" have obvious magenta fringe. I only meant to say that I didn't see anything worse than what I expected to see based on the photozone and similar test shots. In other words, your shots are consistent with the tests and reviews I've read while considering getting this lens myself. 5DSR, 6D, 16-35/4L IS, 85L II, 100L macro, Sigma 150-600C

More info | Dec 13, 2011 22:42 | #29 Ya know, uOpt, I'm surprised that you're not this picky with your 85mm f/1.8. Unless you have some sort of miracle copy, there's mad PF on the lens at and near wide open. Much worse than you're showing from the ef 50mm f/1.4... xgender.net
