I just upgraded from a 7D, and while I love almost everything about the mkIV I am a little disappointed in one thing. Basically if I am shooting in M with a shutter speed of say 1/250th I can't set a separate shutter speed, say 1/30th in TV without it changing the setting that I had in M. This works just fine with my 7D. I shoot roller derby a lot and am using 1/250th in M for most shots, however when the jammer breaks free and takes a corner I would spin the dial to TV where I had it set to 1/30th for a panning shot. It now seems as if I have lost this ability. Please let me know if I am missing something in setting up my mkIV.

Interesting... never had to do that, but let me check it in a few hours when I get home from work...
I think, though, that switching between modes on the mark IV will not be as fast and intuitive, since it requires two steps (button press and dial turn) - using both hands - compared to a simple twist of a knob on the 7D... but, OK, given time and enough practice one could get used to it... ;-)a

Just checked mine and you are correct, it will not keep the settings in Av and different settings when you set up in M. I don't know if there is a custom function to make it do what you want.
And it is convenient when shooting the 7D in Av or M and I hand the camera to my wife and just switch to the green box and then back and saves settings when in Av.

Ya I am a little bummed by it. Oh well, I'll adapt.

No CF to do that, at least not that I've ever seen in my use of the 1 series cameras and I do own a MkIV as well. To be honest I've never found that to be an issue but I can see it being frustrating if you're used to your 7D being able to do it and have developed a shooting style based around it.

You could use the Register/Apply Basic Settings function and then place the corresponding menu item in My Menu. That would allow you to jump to a set mode, shutter speed and aperture with a couple of presses of the Set button.

I would say you could set it up to do it somehow by changing settings in the menu for each set of settings, though a pain, though I guess once it is set.

Hmmm... well, yes... you are correct... one can't do it like that! Strange... and there is no CF to configure this behaviour. I guess you will somehow have to adapt...

I found the same issue when I switched from my 5d2 to a 1ds3. Never found a solution. It is frustrating.
