I now own three tripods since the Gitzo showed up to day. Need to sell one of the Manfrottos. Want to have two. One to keep in the car. bw!But which one? I have the following.

1. New Gitzo GT-2531 series 2 with Markins Q-10 And TB-21 tripod base

The other two are

2. Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs w/ Q90 center column.
3. Manfrotto 055CX3 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs w/ short and tall center column

I also have a Kirk BH-3 ball head.

I'm 5'6"

It appears the 055 is very close to the new Gitzo so I thought of keeping the lighter 190 but the 055 is more solid.

Which should I sell, which one should I keep?

I'd sell #2.

You have the Gitzo 2 series already, so I think the Manfrotto 055 is a bit redundant. I will sell that and keep the 190 for light travelling.

I have six or seven 'full size' tripods and at least that many again table-top ones.

IF you want to sell #1, tripod, ball head and TB 21, I will take it today.

You have to answer the question for yourself, if the savings in weight of the 190 (at 2.9 lbs.) is worth the rigidity of the 055 at 4.4 lbs. vs. the light weight and rigidity of the Gitzo 2531 at 3.8 lbs.

For avid long distance hikers, saving weight is king.
If you only occasionally go hiking, the Gitzo might be acceptable for that use.
It does appear that the 055 is the one to eliminate,

The Gitzo 1541 has been superseded by the 1542. Not an improvement.
