Hi all, I'm off to buy a 60D tomorrow and was wondering which SD card to get? I am not a professional, i photograph my children only and regularly upload the shots to my computer. Cheers :)

I would recommend multiple class 10 cards, an absolute necessity if you are intending to use the video capability of the 60D, or saving in RAW format. Notice I said multiple cards as some people (me included) are of the opinion that if a card fails, then you have another for continued use so not all is lost. I shot RAW + JPEG and can get about 400 shots on an 8 gig PNY "Professional" card. These cards are often put on sale by Staples for around $20 - unfortunately with cameras being a hot ticket item right now good deals on memory are scarce. So for now perhaps buy a single card, and after the holidays get a second or perhaps even a third. I happen to have three cards, but one has Canon supplied videos on the 60D camera operation. I've put the videos on a card, 8 gig needed as videos are 5.5 gig total, and carry the card with me. At any time I can pop it into the camera and review a topic on the camera screen. Handy when on vacation...especially to review things while undergoing a long plane ride! Go to https://photography-on-the.net …p?t=1091914&highlight=60D to see how this capability works.

The reason I got a 32GB card is it was the only size of Class 10 available in the store. I also carry one or two spare 8GB Class 6 cards at all times.

I've used Lexar in the past with no problems. I noticed that the 16 GB card is on sale at B&H right now for $20:

As John stated, it is better to put your eggs in multiple baskets, than just one. I also have a 32 GB Extreme, but also have 3 other 8GB - 16GB class 10 SDHC cards. Why???

What happens if you go on vacation, a shoot, a weekend etc and you take all your pictures on the one card and the card goes bad or you loose it? You stand the chance of loosing 200 pictures, 400 pictures??? If you "spread the wealth" over a couple of cards, if one is lost or goes bad, you have reduced the chance of loosing all your pictures that will be very difficult if not impossible to replace...Just my .02
