The Moon. Right now.

The moon right now has a huge halo around it. I live on the east coast and this is what I am seeing. I presume this is related to the lunar eclipse tonight?

The halo is just caused by ice crystals in the air. Can happen anytime.

Seeing the same on west coast...go figure clear skies the last 4-5 nights and now we have scattered clouds and ice crystals

from where I'm at right now it looks like the path of the moon will be clear of clouds unless the wind starts t pick up.

Where I am at- well, you could use the cloud cover as a Gray Card to set the white balance.. Can't even see the sun...

Awesome, Fricks. I had no idea that there was going to be an eclipse. I got up to take moonset shots and as I was setting up I was like " Holy sh*t! There's an eclise!"

You don't like it like that? I know the image itself isn't spectacular. Also it's majorly cropped at 250mm. I like shots like that, and am looking forward to getting a 400mm lens and possibly a tc so I can REALLY make it look big.

Same halo last night and I'm in S. California, but nowhere did I hear anything about the eclipse, dang!
