Paul: It's not your screen; it is a bit soft. I had a very sturdy tripod and ballhead, fairly quick shutter speed and used mirror lock-up. The problem is that I had to go with a high ISO in order to keep the shutter speed fast enough to not blur the "moving" moon. Then you lose some sharpness when removing the noise. I shot this on a 1D4 at ISO 3200 but still had to hit it pretty hard with Efex Dfine to get rid of the noise. And that softened it a good bit. No-Excuses Kit: 1Ds Mk III, 1D Mk IV, 60D (IR Only).
