This is interesting. I did do a search and couldn't find this anywhere but it wouldn't surprise me if I wasn't the first to post it so my apologies if someone else beat me to it.

I have to wonder how many photographers actually properly license the music that they use in their videos, websites or slide shows. This story (external link) should give everyone something to think about before using copyrighted music.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I do use stock music for my slideshows and videos, not only to adhere to copyright, but even more for the artistic reasons he states. I don't create my images to illustrate someone else's music, I use music as a background for my images.

My workaround has been to avoid stupid cheesy slideshows like the Bubonic.

ETA: Dude needs a proofreader.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

I just shake my head when I read this stuff. I bet this guy would be jumping up and down screaming if someone took his photos and used them for their business without permission. I guess IP stands for Intellectual Property when it is yours and "I Pinch" when it is someone else's.

Nice post Sheldon. I can't tell you the number of people that tell me it's ok to use pictures, music and video/movies without getting permission or buying a license etc.

I also had somebody call me not too long ago and ask me what they should do... They got a letter saying they were being notified of a pending legal action due to pirating music from online sites. My only answer was "You're screwed. I've always told you not to do it".

Jon.

Convenient. I'll have to go find a pianist for this sort of thing. Biggest problem will be convincing my wife I'm doing it for the business...

Hmm, I hadn't even thought of that angle. I'll add that to my list for when I'm making the argument to the wife. Thanks!

I don't do a lot of weddings, but I've never had a bride NOT request a slideshow.

People can request anything they want but that doesn't mean I'll do it.
