I may be the odd one out, but I'm perfectly happy with DPP as it stands. Making a piece of software ever more complex is to me a trap that too many software producers fall into.

I much prefer to have specialist sub-software to do their thing via Photoshop. For example I don't do any noise reduction or sharpening in DPP, or in Photoshop. Much preferring third-party offerings for both.

Near as I can tell, you can do contact sheet prints. Just select the images you want in the main screen, go to File>Contact Sheet Prints, and have at it.

I voted other because I would like more cataloging and tagging capabilities so I could get away from using the PSE catalog. It is just too quirky for enjoyment.

Oh yes, you're right. Haven't seen it before. Sorry.

Other.

The one real shortcoming of DPP in my eyes is the inability to conveniently sharpen an image after resizing.

Since resizing always requires sharpening afterwards, the fact that DPP resizes as part of the conversion process means the JPEG must be edited - and unsharp mask isn't available for JPEGs. So I open the JPEG in Photoshop or Paintshop Pro just for sharpening, then resave it.

An option to apply USM as part of the conversion process would be great.

Oh, yeah: when converting to JPEG, I'd like to see a readout of the final file size so I can adjust the quality slider appropriately. I save at 10 if I'm going to edit in another program, but it looks to me like 3 or even 2 is about right for a final image for web posting.

Thanks for doing all this good work, Yves!

I had seen it but somehow overlooked the sharpening feature.

Thanks!

It seems that the selective area editing is the most wanted feature...
Don't hesitate to vote.
May be a canon developer will see this poll...
