I'm not looking for help. This is just a FYI for POTN members who uses Aperture.

My nephew got an update message on his AppStore. But when he tried to update Aperture it crashes on him. He's getting The application could not be downloaded error. "PKInstallSandbox-tmp" couldn't be removed because you don't have permission to access it.

He ended up using TimeMachine to restore to the previous working version.

As far as I can guess. It's either a problem with Aperture or a problem with the AppStore. But for now I'll skip the update until more info becomes available.

Glad to here it.
But because of what happened to my nephew. I'm a little apprehensive to update mine. Also I think there's nothing that concerns my needs on this update so I can afford to wait for a bit.

For me, Aperture updates come through with "Software Updates" not the App Store.

I think it depends where you acquired it, but in the past I've gotten updates from both.

I'm still fairly new to mac environment. But when I see update notification in appstore I just click it and it gives me the apps that has new updates. I just assumed thats how you get your updates.

My iMac was preloaded with Aperture, so maybe that's why I get the updates through the Software Update.

In any event, Aperture updated for me the other day (version 3.2.2) with no problems.

The Mac App store only offers updates on software you purchased through the store. If you got the software through another source (e.g., on CD), you won't get updates through the store and instead get them through the regular software update.

FYI: It was purchased thru the AppStore due to the price difference between boxed & online.

As days has gone by. We were more inclined to think it was hardware (MBP) related and not apps.

As I saw the last post. It prompted me to test this theory and upgraded mine. RESULT: It did the update with no mishaps.

My apologies for crying wolf.

For your information only. If you are using an iMac DuoCore processor Snow Leopard 10.6.8 as I am, you will find A3 crashing very frequently, for inexplicable reasons. It started with a "reccomended update" from Apple. Before that update no crashes, after....many. So beware. It may be that you do not use this system and you have no problems with A3. That's great, but bear in mind...Apple will not withdraw that update that is causing so many problems and will not offer a fix. They have decided that to lose all the iMac duocore users to A3 is acceptable. So keep that in mind when they "offer" a" reccomended update" to anything. I have given Apple everything they have asked for and no help or communication, save for "our engineers have the info".

Did you try deleting Aperture, reinstalling it from the DVD, then doing the update? That usually fixes the C2D iMac problem.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.
