You know the specs of the Noink D4 should wake Canon up to fix that f8 issue. ;)

For what they're designed for, the D4 beats or equals the 1Dx in almost everything that matters.

As a photojournalist camera (or for shooting people, or anything except landscapes, wildlife and studio work) 16MP and 18MP are essentially equivalent. (For landscapes and studio work, neither is high enough, while, for wildlife, neither has a high-enough pixel density for a full-frame sensor).

AF is pretty much a wash (51 vs 61 vs 1000 AF points will be pretty similar, if they all cover the same proportion of the frame), except that the Nikon can focus down to -2EV and at f/8.

Nikon has a native ISO 102400, which will be cleaner than Canon's software-interpolated ISO 102400. Also, going on recent record, Nikon will have the edge in both ISO and dynamic range.

10fps vs 14fps - both are machineguns.

I guess this, and the D700 vs 5D2, and the D800, basically reflects the difference in philosophy between the two companies.

Canon: 'We'll put in what we think the target audience for the camera will need, and nothing more.'
Nikon: 'Let's stuff as much camera as possible into a package of given size and price.'

Hence, we got the 5D2 (aimed at 'rich Japanese amateurs') with a fantastic sensor, and not much else, and the D700 with Nikon's best sensor at the time, and all the features of the larger and more expensive D3. This seems to have continued here.

Utter crap. No one has seen a file from a 1Dx yet and the D4 isnt even officially announced.

Yet your confident enough to say the D4 is better?

^^Whether or not the Nikon edges out in better IQ/ISO, that doesn't mean the 1D X can't do the job. I'm not a big FPS/ISO nut but, it's nice to finally have it in a FF camera like the 1D X. Now, I'm just waiting to see what the 5D III/D800 has to offer.

We know enough.

We know that the 1Dx can focus to f/5.6, while the D4 can focus to f/8.

We know that the 1Dx has a native ISO of 51200, while the D4 goes one stop better.

We know that it's 18MP vs 16MP.

We know the track record of both companies' recent releases, in terms of noise and DR - namely, that the Nikons have generally been better.

We know that it's 10fps vs 14fps.

This D4 looks sooo poor comparing to 1Dx. I only like the illuminated buttons. Unless you re into birds.

Check the date on that Wells Fargo thing...

It's dated five days from now (Jan 10)

Real? Doubt it...

We know that it's 10fps vs 14fps.

And 14 is with the mirror locked up and shooting blind--so call it 10 vs 12 in any useful application.

And shooting in jpeg as well...

Don't think you can get 14fps in raw.
