Nikon's like that punk at the end of the Price-is-Right, where the person before says, "$1,000" and he responds by saying, "$999, Bob."

Canon says 51,200!
...Nikon yells, 102,400, Bob.

Canon says $6800!
...Nikon declares, $6000, Bob.

Canon shakes fists towards Nikon.

I forgot to add:

Canon says "Available in March!"
...Nikon yells, "February, Bob."

The unknown (and Canon's only potential, yet probably unlikely saving grace) would be the IQ between the two. Given Nikon's track record with the D3s... I'd give Nikon the slight edge at the moment.

Being a non-pro/cheapskate and what I shoot I care about two things: price and high iso capabilities. For all practical purposes the cameras are gonna be very similar. AF, ergonomics, IQ (not 100% sure on that one), fps, extras. But the D4 is significantly cheaper and I would bet Nikon may be proven to have the edge with iso based on past performances.

But factor in the increase cost of Nikon glass, I suppose they are a wash.

I am more interested in the D800/5d III comparison, as I will realistically never own a pro level camera when it is the current model, but I will be upgrading to the 5d III if Canon delivers the goods.

I would never switch (well, never say never), I just hope Canon feels the heat from their competitors! ;)

Its not a wash when canon's new lenses are more expensive than nikon's. This is getting interesting. I feel canon is slipping...
