It's a shame to see such a fine building fall in to disrepair, but there is absolutely nothing to do with an old corn crib. Buggy whips, 8 track tapes, record stores and corn cribs have all fallen victim to technology.
Here is another shot from the farm my family has owned for the past 70 years.

WV, I was playing around with this one last night after reading HBOC's suggestion. I like your conversion. I think some more contrast in the image would be nice. I'll post what I worked on later tonight to compare with yours.

Very nice.

The top part is interesting. What was that used for? A wild guess would possibly a fox tower but I don't know if they had fox farms in your area. Unless, that is the corn crib you mentioned.

Not enough contrast to be a successful B&W image. IMO

Yes, this is a corn crib. The upper area was for storage for corn taken off the cob. The lower are on each side of the building held corn still on the cob. You could drive a tractor through the middle of the building with a trailer, and open a hatch that would release the stored grain above, into the wagon.

@ Chris,

Thanks,

I live in a farming community that is slowly being sold off to developers for residential housing in some areas. It won't happen overnight but old farm buildings are being torn down for a number of other reasons as well. It's kind to sad to see a bygone era vanishing over time.

It's and niche area that I am interested in and have been taking pics of barns, the old grain trucks and threshers etc. There are still a few tractors around on steel wheels so it's always nice to find those.

Chris...something very appealing about this shot..i really like the cool subtle colours and buildings like the have a feel that i find wonderful....good work.

The mono is stage one straight conversion....with some work i agree it would making a cracking mono...work on bringing out the texture tone, detail & contrast...it could defo be a wall hanger.

I don't have any experience with anything other than color so I don't know what makes it a good conversion, but here is an attempt.

^^ that is a much better B&W conversion. Nothing against the first one posted, it just needed more contrast. This one has better contrast. I like it!

Yes, that one is better. I'm still learning editing.
