The lens is now available on canon.com. The sales price price is not bad at all especially if your sales tax is not on the high end. For NYC, the final price including tax and shipping is around 1110.

This is still a very good deal although you can buy new for around 1255( free shippping) on B&H if you are not in NY. But then for those not in NY and with lower sales tax rate, the refurb may make a lot of sense financially. So, good luck and get it before it's out.

I think you can also use Mr. Rebates on refurb lenses to receive an extra 3%
