Devil in the details

I've enjoyed katodog's (Ed Durbin) work both here and in Birds. In fact I was fortunate enough to meet him at L&D 14 earlier this year.
First time trying this for me. Did a little with it in ACR and a little in CS4 with levels and curves. I used two 500 watt work lights to light it with white paper over them to soften it a bit, white foam core under and behind it, camera on tripod with a remote shutter release and food coloring.
