7D audio help...

about a year ago I thought that I wanted to explore the world of DSLR video... well, let's just say after too many hours editing content into something worth watching, I decided that it just wasn't worth it to me. I went back to working on my photography.

Tonight I was at my daughter's dance recital and thought,"hey, take a quick video", and when I get home to view the recording... there is no audio.

Anyone know if there is a setting on the camera to record from the external mic only? I am thinking that I must have used something like this when i was using my ZOOMH1, but now I can't find it...

This is an mute mic option in the video menu section.

Yeah, it sounds like you turn off the audio recording feature. Turn the camera on, switch it over to video mode and then look at the 4th red box (the one for video) and the CF for turning the audio on or off is in there.

It sucks that you don't have any audio from the recital.

Okay...finally figured out that you have to switch to movie mode to see the movie menu items... turns out the "sound recording" is set to ON... guess the onboard mic has take a dive at some point over the last year... anyone else experience this?
