We had an amazing time. As for gear, I would agree that a CPL is very helpful. I brought EVERYTHING, figuring I didn't want to miss any opportunities, but I don't believe I used anything besides the 24-70 (except for the backup body/lens combo used for beach/water shots). And that was a great $300 spent, both for peace of mind and having something in conditions where I wouldn't have had a camera otherwise. Road into the clouds on the way from Kona to the volcano national park. Volcano crater. Kayakers across from a roadside scenic overlook in Kauai. Kayakers along the Napali Coast. Milky Way in front of our hotel in Lihue. Nikon D600

That view was from the Jaggar Museum...did you not make it there? We didn't hike much with the little ones. meh_meli wrote in post #16132597 Puckerth, Yes, those are a nice selection. Unless you go back often, I think it's better to bring it all. Looks heavy on the magenta at Kilauea. Did you stay at the Marriott beach club? I agree and was tempted to alter it, but from my recollection that's what it actually looked like so I didn't. Maybe I will revisit that. And we just stayed at the hotel, not the beach club. Although that looks like a great alternative. Do you have experience with it? Nikon D600

I think I was there in the afternoon. looks like the secret was to shoot later, closer to sunset... and it appears the volcano cooperated with you too... lucky Dean Chiang
