Stay safe Freddy next week. I should whip out my Rollei again.

Thanks Kevin. Hurricane Flossie's in her way. Hoping for minimal impact but never know. I remember Iwa and Iniki, what a mess.

It doesn't even have to be a hurricane to do much damage. So many historical sites are near the water and tourism can take a hit too.

Kiapolo, keep the little one dry and safe too. Pretty one with the clouds, I never see too many like this.

Mahalo for the concern. Thankfully we live high and dry in Honolulu/Makiki! Got all of our hurricane supplies ready to go!

Just a note for anyone heading out to Ka`ena Point for sunset. Once the sun goes down it gets REALLY dark, VERY fast. If you don't take a flashlight or some light source, you're screwed! There was no moon out last night and it was overcast and it was PITCH BLACK! Take a flashlight...and don't park at the end of Keawe`ula Beach Park (park closer to the campers).

We have propane, water and food to last for many days and are as ready as you can be for something like this. It might just fizzle or it might just pop, we'll see. Sure hope all ride through it well and we don't lose too many trees along the Mango Road, etc. I'm also wondering what will happen to this 'new' black sand beach at Kalapana? I guess we'll all see it in a couple of days.

We are just a few minutes from the coast and, weather permitting, I might try to head on over early tomorrow morning. I'll keep you posted.

Image is of the 'new' black sand beach at Kalapana.

Got off work early and drove to Ko'olina last week. Even on a weekday, the parking spots were full and I had to circle around a couple of times before one opened up.

Nice sunset and good color too.

Ron,
I wouldn't worry about the black sand, I'm sure Puʻu ʻŌʻō can whip up some more in no time. This area was just rocky last year?

Our flight was cancelled this morning, scheduled to land on Maui 11:30am :(
This trip is for our 8th wedding anniversary which is tomorrow, so we will be back in Fresno instead of Maui lol I gotta stay positive :)
We were lucky enough to re-book a flight for wednesday. I hope everyone stays outta harms way and Flossie fizzles out without too much damage.
Great shots everyone, I hope to contribute soon :)

Just stay out of the streams and I don't know about Hana. First thing I would do Wed. is head South to Hookipa and take pictures of the surf.
