finally, I was able to return to Oahu - missed the big surf at Pipeline by a few days
still had a great time - I forgot my 2x extender, which makes my 70-200 2.8 a poor mans 400mm 5.6!

Got to catch the current Halemaumau eruption from the Keanakākoʻi outlook after a short walk down the abandoned Crater Rim Trail. Got there at around 10:00 pm and stayed until about 1 am. Amazing!

Hiked and camped in Haleakalā National Park for four days and three nights last week (7/31). Got lucky and missed the winds and fires by a week.

Caught the Milky Way and Sunrise from the Palikū Cabin.

In June when Halema'uma'u began it's last eruption I headed out to the Big Island with my Dad and brother and captured the TOWERING 300+ foot fountain on its last night.
