Personally the warmth of the zeiss is most defining. At full size, the 3D is more apparent.

The only difference I see is due to perspective - looks like the shot was framed the same using two different focal lengths, which leads to some perspective distortion on the 35L. Also, the 50 MP is very well corrected for distortion.

Other than this, I see no difference either - nor would I expect to for a shot like this...especially at web size. And, the "warmth of Zeiss is most defining" - ZE is typically cooler and Canon is typically a smidge warmer in general...I think you're seeing a slight difference in exposure (despite your equal camera settings) more than a difference in color temperature.

What are we trying to do with this?

The whisky level seems to be low... it's time to sell your 35L and to enjoy the Zeiss and the whisky ;)

Absolutely, that is probably the most correct deduction of them all.

Why me again? I am not the only one here who think that the first image is more 3D:-) Is this the one from Zeiss? I did not check....

Its the warmth that hits me in the face first - I have found that with all Zeiss lenses*. However that means very little to me as I PP the hell out of my images and WB is one of the first to get it:)

EDIT: *all ZE lenses

If I could post full size it would be more obvious.

I gave a good picture of a guitar I will post later where the wood grain really exemplifies zeiss 3D qualities

The Zeiss has a little more contrast. However, many lenses look pretty good at f2.8. How do they compare at f2? People buy the 35f1.4 to use at apertures wider than f2.

The first image is definitely 3-D. I just poured myself a shot of Jonnie blue... Thank god for the 3-D.
