Still can't believe my eyes. $640.00 to repair the autofocus on my Sigma 120-300 2.8.

I didn't drop it, break it, misuse it... it just stopped working.

Quite a dilemma as I don't even use it for business, just my kid's sports.

Originally paid $1700 for it used now I sure don't want to drop another $640.00 on it but neither do I want to see the $1700 just go down the drain.

:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

Manual focus work? Might want to keep it that way, or try a private repair service instead.

Canon 20D(sold), EOS 7D, Bower 8mm, Canon f/2.5 Macro, Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, Sigma 80-400mm EX/DG/OS.

Manual doesn't work either. Hoping to find someplace local in the Dallas area.

If anyone knows of any other repair options like Ross Perot, I'm all ears.

Don't Sigma's have 5 year warranty? What is reason for not being under warranty?

I did not know that. I thought the 120-300 was a recent lens. Well, I guess you have to look at it this way then. Is it worth $640 to use it for another 5 years at least, and have to pay again? Or simply scrap it now and switch to something else that will last longer than that? The problem is, everything will break eventually, just don't really know when it's gunna happen.

That sucks. But if you don't want to pay $640 to fix it you can always give it to me and I'll pay $640 to fix it. I'll even cover the shipping! :-P

I bet if the manual worked that repair would be a lot cheaper.

that is why it worth having insurAnce. For personal things it will be less than $20/yr for lens like 120-300mm.
