I have been using the HoneyGrid with my Maxilite for a while and in many situations it almost eliminates the need for a beauty dish.

I don't find it even close to a BD and I've used with the diffusion disk

My first use of the Fireball was last week at a test shoot for a new label... all shot on a D610 with an 85mm 1.8G

Image A is a three light set up all D-Lite One heads... a Fireball with Elinchrom deflector (diffuser) and two kit 40x40 softboxes. Image B is a single head with Fireball with Elinchrom deflector (silver)

My usual photography is commercial product photography but this year have decided to extend myself... happy with CC if you wish.

But do I like the Fireball... oh yeah... now I want a Quadra to hook it up to and go on location!

I can't wait to get my hands on the HS head and HS Skyport to use with the fireball.

Two fun sets lately using this thing.

This was for the October "Grindhouse" show of the Big Bang Boom Cabaret, I posted the silver-background images back in February. Well, this time I worked outside in the parking lot of the venue, with the fog machine. Main light is the Fireball on a D-Lite it 2, and two Speedlights with orange gels for rim/kicker/accent light.

And these are from the July show with an "Erotica" theme. Shooting indoors, main light is the Fireball on the D-Lite 2 it on a boom, background/rim light is a Fotodiox strip box on my other D-lite head, turned down as far as it'll go. I'm also getting a little bit of reflector action from a white wall that's a little bit camera-left.

The "backdrop" is a black-painted plywood panel covering the air handler, ha ha. Gotta make do with what I have...by standing far away and zooming in to 100-150mm, I can make it look like I'm using a bigger backdrop. Downside is that the subject can't do "big" poses.

Some images from this set were my first images ever published (er, that I didn't publish myself).
