I mistakenly assumed the model was Robs wife earlier in the thread...

That faux pas of course had to be commented on. ;-)a

I was suffering with a cold and toothache at the time, so my observational skills were severely impaired.

But I suspect you figured that out and I am explaining this for no reason at all?

Also, realize Dave is from the midwest, they're know to be an intensive lot:lol:

My mate has bought a fresnel lens for his Elichroms, and while it's an awesome piece of gear, he uses it for "simulated sunlight", I couldn't help but wonder if a Maxilite would be something similar, at one tenth the cost (and weight) and a darn site easier to cart around !

Cheers,

Austen.

Hi Austen,

The Maxilite, for me, is my Sun. I was inspired by Matthew Jordan Smith, who uses the the Profoto Magnum as his Sun and after doing a bit of research it occurred to me that the Elinchrom Maxilite was as close and equivalent as possible.

Modifiers like the Maxilite and beauty dishes are great on location but they are an awkward shape and size and aren't collapsible so for some, the convenience could be countered by the bulk.

Hmmm I was actually thinkin' the Maxilite would be reasonably portable...Well, compared to my mates fresnell lens, which weights a ton !

If I'm not mistaken, his is this one, or a very close clone thereof ......

I guess it's all relative, compared to a Speedlite, sure a Maxilite may be big and heavy, but compare it to the modifier above and it looks quite portable !!

Cheers,

Austen.
