Adorama has the Canon 135mm F2 L USM for $899 (external link). Use it with Mr. Rebates 4% cashback, and it's $863. USA model with free shipping too.

Here's what you do:

1) Click on the Adorama link in my original post. Add lens to cart.

2) Now type in www.mrrebates.com (external link) to get to that website. Once there, log-in, then click "Electronics" tab, then click "Adorama".

3) A small window will open from Mr Rebates saying you are now earning 4% on any purchases at Adorama. Your lens should already be in your shopping cart. Just check out. You will receive an email tomorrow sometime that you have earned $35.96 (4%).

Though not in stock (or available at this price) any more Best Buy did, briefly, have this for 777.99 free shipping +tax. I'm really, really upset that I missed it at the time. But knowing it would have been sub $830 after taxes (6% tax for me) prevents me from jumping on this right now. I'm willing and able to hold out to it hits that level again

So I have the 70-200 Mk2. I was about to jump on this. But the lack of IS concerns me. I hate the fact that my 24-70 doesn't have IS.

I see that Adorama says that this lens is ideal for indoor sports in its description.

Is there any reason at all to get this lens, assuming I won't be using a tripod when shooting indoor sports, dance, etc?

I'm thinking that there is little reason for me to acquire this lens if it does not have IS. I'm guessing that my 70-200 will produce better results. One stop of aperture won't make up for the lack of IS. Anyone disagree or agree?

This is tempting. REALLY tempting. I also have a 70-200 II and I sold my 135L recently but I kinda miss it!
