So I have the 70-200 Mk2. I was about to jump on this. But the lack of IS concerns me. I hate the fact that my 24-70 doesn't have IS.

I see that Adorama says that this lens is ideal for indoor sports in its description.

Is there any reason at all to get this lens, assuming I won't be using a tripod when shooting indoor sports, dance, etc?

I'm thinking that there is little reason for me to acquire this lens if it does not have IS. I'm guessing that my 70-200 will produce better results. One stop of aperture won't make up for the lack of IS. Anyone disagree or agree?

If you're shooting sports you're aiming for a fast shutter speed, and a stop of aperture will make a huge difference. IS is useless in a sports setting.

Not sure where you found this link, but did it indicate how long this would be active?

No one knows for sure how long Adorama will keep it active besides Adorama. But it's a pretty darn good price on a pretty rippin' lens. :D

I know. I asked my wife for this for Christmas. I sent her this link and told her if she had already bought it from B&H that they should give a refund. She hasn't replied. If she hasn't bought it, I wish she would just tell me to do it!

As others know, you tread lightly when talking about $1000 lenses with significant others...

Well I just threw down. How long does it usually take something to show up on Mr Rebates? After the order is billed and shipped? I just registered for Mr Rebates and got a $5 bonus as a surprise! I picked up the 135L and a 580EX for $383 after rebate. Merry Christmas!

It should take 1-2 days to show up as "pending" on your Mr Rebates account. You will get an email for this.

As for available rebates, that probably takes 75-90 days.

In years past, there have been a few good deals at Christmas, but not to the extent that we're seeing this year.

That's for sure. Last years deals were disappointing. This year it's like everyone has won the lottery.

Thanks. This was my first time using Mr Rebates and I was worried I hadn't done it right.

In less than 12 hours, my rebates show as pending! Woot! 135L for $863 and 580EXII for $383. Actually, I also got a $5 bonus for signing up for Mr Rebates, so I got the 135L for $858!

Thanks for the tip!

I'm with you all that are uber tempted. Argh.

First three Canon 5Ds. Some lights (some really fancy ones too). Some glass (maybe a few too many but who's keeping track?). Some cool stamps on my passport.
