At some point the Canon downloader (MCU?) started coming up when I attache a card reader. I've been using Bridge to download and Canon software was not starting. Now I'm using LR3 and I can't stop Canon. Dave

Windows: Probably something similar. I have been looking for this also. I wasn't able to find image capture though. Is it somewhere in system preferances?

Look for Image Capture.app. You do have to have a device connected, but even your iPhone (if you have one) will work, since Image Capture sees that as a camera device.
