Ok, I'm selling a guitar and needed some good quality pics. I used the modeling light boomed overhead from a single Elinchrom D-Lite 4 to light up the guitar.

Also, used my 5D2 with a 430 EX II speedlight attached to the hotshoe.

It should also be noted that the D-Lite 4 flash heads have an internal trigger, but from one to another. Also, the D-Lite I used has the receiver for the trigger that usually goes into the hotshoe of the 5D2.

Imagine my surprise when somehow, the D-Lite was activated by the camera, the flash or otherwise. How is this possible? Was the 430 EX II on the camera's hot shoe triggering the D-Lite 4? Is a setting in the 5D2 telling the hotshoe to trigger something?

Got some nice shots of the guitar, but honestly, (and not surprisingly) quite confused by the D-Lite firing along with the camera flash!

Here's a guitar shot:

here's an explanation from the Dlite product discription

Eye-Cell Technology
When using the D-Lite4 it in optical slave mode with cameras, or shoe-mount flashes with a pre-flash, users can program the number of pre-flashes or have the head automatically program itself--a great way of mixing lights.

optical slave trigger (button with the eye icon) and it will sync when it sees the flash from the other strobe.

Thank you. I need to read up on that. Maybe I wasted my money on triggers!

Thanks! I have two CS '69 Heavy Relic strats. My current gig is with a regional hippie 60s show band that plays the festival season (may - sept) each year. During each show I play a Ric 360/V12, a VOX teardrop, an acoustic/electric and the strat. I can't wait to get the strat in my hands because it's the only guitar I picked for myself! Plays like a dream, screams when it needs to and is punchy as ever for a strat.

Here are another couple of shots of both:

1. The 'cream of tomato soup' model:

2. Vintage White in its case:

3. Both strats and the Ric:

So I'm selling one of the CS strats to buy MORE camera gear! During the playing season, I string both strats, take one to gigs and when the strings get bad swap in the other. I really don't need both. Kinda like having two 70-200 f/2.8L IS II lenses, I guess!

Yeah, I'm keen othat white one, too.

I love the way the relic/heavy relic units play, but the thing that bugs me the most about them is that they all seem to look almost identical, in terms of the relic'ing.

The vintage white reminds me of the Yngwie model i used to have way back. LOVED the scalloped frets... I'll post some pics of my LP when i'm done with it. I'm getting a bunch of upgrades for christmas, i'll take a few photos when done.
