That is AWESOME! WOW... the colors are amazing as is the color in the sky next to the white snow on the mountains... very cool shot.

Where is 4 Peaks? I'm in the Phoenix area.. but have never been there. :)

Really makes me miss it there, I joined the marine corps and had to move:-(. Looks like this was taken on the road that I lived on as well. Was it taken from Ellsworth rd or from beeline highway (87)?

Amazing pic

The processing on the sky makes it look fake. I prefer the original but, hey, YMMV..

Thanks... that's not too far away. We went camping up past Payson last year, over near the Rim. Really beautiful up there.

You're probably right. If I ever take the perfect photograph, I'm on to something else!;)

Great picture but there are a lot of obvious photoshopping artifacts around the cactus and mountains that makes this look too fake for my brain to interpret this as a photograph.

I've lived right by it for 14 years and have never been to the top. That will change soon!

All I do is take pictures, man, I can't control how people's brains interpret them. Try not to overthink it. ;)

Well when you do make it up there make sure you are prepared for a VERY bumpy ride. Took us about 2 or so hours to get to the top and that was cruising pretty good in my lifted Jeep. Never before thought my teeth were gonna fall out till then haha. Go up from the back side (near Roosevelt Dam) its way better than the entrance from Beeline Hwy. on the entrance from Beeline highway it was so bumpy on the way up that my wife made me turn around after an hour, just couldn't take it. The trip will definitely be worth the pictures, enjoy.

That's not good news---there is nothing I hate more than a washboarded road!

Mom, Dad and I took a drive out to Four Peak area today. Man...what a COOL place! Not much 'character' in the sky, but the Four Peaks sure are purdy!

Thanks Irishman!

I can see how getting up early for morning twilight / sunrise is a 'do-able' activity...especially when there are some clouds to add character to the composition!!

Played with my Lee Sunset 3 filter as well...made it look like a Martian landscape (didn't post any of them to Flickr though). Hilarious and fun.

Amazing sky! I like the HDR image but my taste would be just to tone that one down a bit.
