How often do Sigma Lenses go on sale? Are they they type of thing that seems like everyone has them for the same price?

Looking at the Sigma 150-500mm. I was not going to buy until the spring, but I found one on sale... for about $101 off. Everyone is running them at $1069, but Abe's has them for $968, no tax, free shipping.

Is it the kind of thing I can find when I am really in the market for it, or should I grab it before it goes away since I might not find this kind of deal again.

B&H had a deal on the 70-200 os last week. $150 off the price, came to 1249.00. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned here. Did anybody else get this deal?

Abes do seem to run a few more Sigma promotions than most from what I have seen of late. Sometimes it is not until I make the decision to add something to my cart that I see they have some unwritten promotion or giveaway added. Might be why 3 of my last 3 sigma lens purchases came from Abes.

Just a heads up - Only thing that is odd with abes is they insist on making a post purchase sales effort where you have to call to "verify" you order - this is when they try to sell you a filter or something. They are not very pushy but it is very close to what the Bait and Switch companies do and many a customer may be unnerved by it. Abes are very much a legitimate Sigma Authorized retailer - just that they do the "you want fries with that" offer that might give them an additional sale.

I have bought 2 lenses from abes (most recently a 50mm 1.4 and a while ago 17-50mm Sigma OS, from when i had a 60D). I never received a call from them or had to call them to verify anything about my order... i bought both using a sigma8 coupon and loyalty15 I used the google checkout option... the first time i bought from them, i called them to check my shipping status a day later, and the rep was nice and friendly... didnt try to sell anything... the copy of my 50mm i got from them was spot on my then 60D and is spot on my 5Dmk2... i had tried 2 other copies from amazon with no luck, both front focused quite a bit (i returned both of those as i didnt want to warranty a brand new lens...) I would def purchase from abes again...

I got an email about it and now I can't find it. I think I have accidentally deleted it. I'm going to give them a call to see if I can still get the deal. I think I've finally made up my mind to take the plunge on the Sigma 70-200 2.8 os.

abes has had the 150-500OS for cheaper than anywhere else for a while now...i wouldn't worry about losing money if you have to wait...although prices have gone up in the time since i bought mine from them...i think i paid like 875

Well, I'm taking the plunge. I called B & H to see if they would match the price for the Sigma 70-200 2.8 os, that shows up on Adorama's site from Ken Rockwell's link ($1,259). They could not match it completely, but VERY close. For the small difference and having ordered from B & H in the past, the piece of mind is worth the LITTLE extra. I should have the lens by Friday. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!!!! :D I must have been really good this year! ;)

I'm concerned that even my continued presence on POTN doesn't give you peace of mind.....

True^ Adorama is great, even better than BH from my personal experience but I don't want to derail further, carry on.

No offense intended, so I hope none was taken. I'm just the type of person that if I've ordered / worked with somone or a company before, I'll continue to work with them. I know adorama is reputable, so I hope my comments are not taken out of context.
