So, I hate wearing gloves even though they are an unfortunate necessity as soon as it gets cold. Nothing will end your day of shooting faster than cold, numb hands.

I don't like wearing gloves because it's hard to feel/press buttons, especially when working in the dark. I always feel like I'm handicapped with them on.

So, I'd been thinking about the perfect gloves, if I could design them myself. I thought, full finger gloves, but with holes in them, so that I could expose the fingertips until I got cold and then cover them back up.

I then thought, hey.. this would be easy enough to do, just cut the holes! (not thinking about how long they'd last since they'd fray, etc..)

Then I ran across a pair of these today - at Cabella's outdoor store. Exactly what I was thinking but with velcro to keep the parts out of the way, and they have grippy surface to them, so good for hiking in snow and holding onto your gear, etc...

Pretty cool! Leave it up to fishermen to have already solved this issue! Anyways, these seem perfect for photographers like me, who don't like to work with gloves on.

Anyways, they were only $14. Damn, you can't beat that!

Couldn't find the pair I got on their website, but here's something similar (external link)

$14 ain't bad. I use these, available at REI or Sierra Trading Post (basically the same thing...very well made):

I got a pair of Snow Boarders gloves, nice and sticky on the inside, super thin but very warm.

I solved the problem by choosing to live in a place where gloves aren't needed...
