I recently purchased a used 1Ds Mkii that is in wonderful cosmetic condition. It came without the original box or instruction manual, so I downloaded and read the manual on-line from the canon website. Everything seems to work quite well with the camera and all its functions. The problem I am having is in the image playback.....I get a big yellow ? where the images should be and when I try to download them from the memory card they show as damaged files or unsupported file types. They show fine on the cameras screen immediately after shot but I am unable to view and scroll through images afterwards. Nothing more than the big dreaded yellow question marks. I had an sd card in the camera that had a bunch of other stuff on it other than the pictures I shot. I cleared the card completely and still had the same results. The files when downloaded show as JPEG and Cr2 as they should but cannot be opened. I tired another card and got things to work OK for now...the files show with the same tags but now they are openable and useable.
I guess the question is whether the files I shot were just recorded in an un-recognizeable format or are they corrupt? I shot these pics at a wedding but was not "the photographer" for the wedding (thank God) but I would like to see if I got anything worth printing or sharing. Has anybody had similar issues as me?? Thanks for any input!

That first card should not only have been cleared, but formatted completely before being used in the camera.

Guess I should have read that part huh......I never had to format the card on my 5d but I guess that is a requirement on the new baby. I will give it a try and see if it helps! Thanks for the reply.

Haven't had this problem with mine but I'm wondering what you are using to open the files with? Have you tried DPP or another photo editing/viewing program?

Using Photoshop Elements to open all my files...never had a problem at all using this program.....Everything is fine now that I cleaned and formatted the cards....I never had to do that with my 5D so I guess I never thought about having to do that with the new camera. Good thing I wasn't expected to produce any images at this wedding...I just brought the camera along to play with it while I was doing the music. I hoped to get some good shots to play with but I guess I will have to shoot again!

Glad you got it figured out.
Now welcome to the club and be sure to find your way over to the 1Ds II thread.
