Just got DSS, this is my first stack. Too much light pollution to get the milky way, or i'm doing something wrong lol.

I imagine even with the light pollution that you could get a better shot with just one exposure.

Aren't Ursa Major and the Milky Way in different parts of the sky ? I can't see it from here so I could be wrong.
How many shots did you stack and what exposure times ? I suspect that you need to have a look at the way you process the resulting file from DSS. It requires a gentle touch to get the most from it. There are some stickies in the discussion section that may help.

Tom, Did you do any additional Post Processing after stacking with DSS? the Initial stacked results will be dark for many images, but the image data is still there and you will need to do additional post processing to bring it out.
What you have here looks like an image where both ends of the histogram are clipped leaving you with nothing but bright white spots on a pure black background. Space is dark, but it really isn't black, and stars aren't all white, most that are aren't pure white.

SteveInNZ, Yes and No. Parts of the Milky Way circle around the northern sky too. But not that close to Ursa Major. It runs through Cassiopeia which is the opposite side of the NCP from Ursa Major and you would need a wide lens to capture them both within the fov.
