A little tourist town railway runs Santa Express excursions, and this town was made popular by a nightclub called the Stork Club that featured Big Bands such as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman etc and my father always told me about going there before he met my mother. I wonder if he had taken a camera back then if his shots would have looked like these as the train takes kids to see Santa further North of town.

Good ones. I've heard of the Stork Club & wish I could have stopped in there.

Here is a link to some history on the place.

Turns out the railway was behind it as a way to generate revenue.

Most people today have no idea how important the railways were to settling North America.

Its a GE 25 Ton built in 1952. They have a second 25 Ton, a 44 Ton and a 50 Ton also. They have some larger cars that they use for murder mystery/dinner trains and addition rail mileage excursions.

The station was an actual flagtop for the hamlet of Union ON which is just east of the station.

I was really suprised at the turnouts for the 3 trains they ran on Saturday.

Santa trains seem to be popular around these parts, too.

Those little workhorses are definitely fun to find and capture. :)

There are 3 trains within a two hour drive of my house that ran Santa trains, and I was most familiar with this area, having been to it a few times this summer.

I actually looked into all of these little excursion trains and decided that I would put my mother on a couple of them that have dinner trains, and then go shoot the train in a few choice locations.

That is actually her Christmas present, a few train excursions throughout 2012.
