You know 115-year olds who can lift 7+ pounds for extended periods of time? Cost should be the least of their concerns

If you're doing a ton of action shooting from a distance, there's little reason not to indulge if you can afford it. Really though, I don't think you need to be out that far. Seems like you know these surfers. Unless you're hiding in a photo blind at a topless beach...

You don't know what you're missing without the 300 2.8 I'll happily sacrifice most of my standard zoom and prime setup to keep it. Most everything that comes from that lens is a keeper.
