I had the pleasure of seeing this little guy again.....previously did his newborn shots. Well, he is really growing up now. He is just over one year old, happy and healthy. Mom wanted 1 year old shots, I suggested a cake smash (never done one, but they looked cool). She picked up a cup cake instead, a little miscommunication. It would be better with blue icing, but I think these still work.

The background is simple blue or white seamless paper - 52 inches wide. I rolled it out, taped it to her wall. The white has a small piece of 30 x 50 inch plexi material. Simple balloon and frills background from the dollar store. Everything done in Aperture, no photoshop needed. Simple 2 light set up - AB 400 in large soft box in front to camera left, 430 II with shoot through umbrella to right at almost 90 to child....and patio door at 90 to left.

First time shooting with white seamless, plexi, AB400 on sync cable and 430 II on PW TT5. C&C welcome.

Looks great. Nice idea taping the balloons to the wall - makes for a neat background.

Brilliant. By the way where do you get the backgrounds for cheap? The blue looks fantastic.

Another question is about the floor. I can see his reflection in it. What is that?

Seamless paper is cheap...$40 for 36 feet...probably way cheaper in the USA. The reflection comes from the plexiglass sitting on top of the paper.

Looking good. I can see you keep yourself busy. 2, 3, 4 are rather good. If only the boy was slightly off the centre of the frame. Is it me or are they just a little bit soft?

Thanks Tommy.

Posting them on the net is killing them. They virtually need no sharpening and most were at f/2.8 - full size on the iMac look great.

I shoot centre point on the eye or face...I also cropped them for centre...to even out the background and believe it or not, most parents want the kids in the centre of the frame - it just seems to sell.

I tried looking for Plexiglas in Walmart and I couldn't find it. Is there a specific place where they sell these or is it called something else?
