35mm l vs 24-70mm l auto focus speed

i feel like the auto focus on my 24-70mm is a bit faster than the 35mm l. anyone else notice this or is it just me?


Gear: 5d iii, 17-40mm l, 24-70mm ii, 35mm 1.4 l, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, 135mm l, 70-200mm ii l, 600ex-rt

Tough to say but I find the 35 pretty quick on my 7D. I havent put the 24-70 back on since I got the 35 on black Friday so I haven't actually compared them. I kind of forgot about my 24-70 since I haven't gone outside to shoot recently.

same here, just picked mine up a few days ago also. def prefer the size over the 24-70

all i can say is the focus speed on both are not slow.

even if it's different i doubt you will be able to tell. i forget if the FL makes a difference on the 24-70, but on my 70-200, 70mm will focus lightening fast, while 200 is noticeably sluggish. 35L would have constant speed i would imagine. but both will focus faster than you would ever need.

Yup, my 35L AF slower than both 17-40 and 70-200 but it's still much faster than the 85L II. LOL
