Somebody asked if I would post some images using my 24-105 to compare sharpness. As I was working some lighting setups, it fit in.

These are using the contrast detection AF in live view with a 5DII, focusing on the subjects right eye.

No in or out of camera sharpening has been done.

I'm not sure I understand what you are posting.

In each post, is the bottom image the "original" image, with the image above it being a crop of the same image? Or are the top and bottom images completely different images taken at different distances from the subject?

Some detailed explanations would be helpful in letting us know just what it is we are looking at.

Thanks!

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Your lights are really making your model look plastic-like. And some variations in expression would be nice.

Too much skin smothing for my taste.
Something about the eyes too that doesn't look lifelike.

Allright, these are just for you:rolleyes:

Actually, by request, I've taken these from a different angle and lighting to see if there is more detail in the eye. Settings as before, each pair is crop with uncropped image.

That last image demonstrates exceptional IQ. Were there any differences between it an the others taken at 105mm? It seems as though the exposure or lighting are different than that used in the 105mm image used in post #3. This latest one looks a bit brighter around the eye.

Like my wife, she won't listen to me. Even when we talk, it's stilted conversation:confused:
