Hello, everyone!

I'm working on a promotional shoot that involves my 'business' and a local salon. I've spoken with the owner and have her very excited for the shoot.

I believe I have all of the kinks worked out. I'm working on flyers, have my business cards at the salon, and I'm projecting the shoot for the end of Janurary/early Feburary.

My question is for the pros on the forum...Any tips, tricks, or pitfalls to watchout for? I'm still very green when it comes to the business and want to make every move right in order to build myself up and help a local business as well...

Do not overlook state laws for photos of people used in commercial use(advertising) usually require a signed model release document as confirmation of their permission to use their image.

That is true for some, I spend just about every Christmas and part of the winter in a tropic destination. I seem to have developed an insane hate of snow. So I pop onto the forum once every other day or so.

I read the OP when it was first posted and found it to be pretty vague as far as asking for advice. If you want to get the best suggestions you need to tell us more about the 'business'. Is there something unique about it that makes you put it in quotes. What kind of market are you targeting. What sort of salon are you dealing with. I like to see specifics in questions so you know you are actually providing help.

There is already a lot of good information on here that can be found in the stickies and simply browsing this forum. I hope that people take advantage of that information.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I see what you're saying.

I placed business in quotations because I'm in the process of obtaining copyrights and turning my hobby into an actual business.

As far as target clients, I'm shooting for upper class females with money to spend on themselves. I'm looking for women who will spread the word quickly to their friends, family, husbands family ect, for good referals.

I'm hoping that this promotion will help me get my name out into the public's eye and expand my portfolio while helping my friend with her salon business as well.

My wife told me that she found timplets of contracts I'm looking to use for each person interested in doing the shoot.

Basically what I'm needing to know is:
A) Am I on the right track to helping myself start a business I can be proud of?
B) What can I do to make sure I make the most profit and clientel possible?
C) Any ideas to incorperate during the shoot?
