A friend of mine came over and next thing I know, here I am taking pics of her 9 month old son in the house. Still working on my indoor flash technique - comments and critique.

I'm drawn to #1. The catchlights in the eyes help make the capture.

When he's looking up, there's a feeling of wonderment in his face. Could Santa have just entered the room? Is someone bringing in a really big present?

Keep up work like this and your friend will be coming back for more!

Agree...You did notice that the shoes are on the wrong feet...right.

The first one really works for me, too, for the reasons stated already (and the shoes are not showing, although I think the shoes in the "wrong foot" actually adds to the charm). :)

It may be a personal thing, but I do prefer a bit larger background light "balls" which you can easily accomplish with some adjustments.
