Only been at this digital stuff for just over a year & a half; so much to learn, and with age it's tougher to learn new tricks. Most likely I will go for the combo deal

Well, many people find the tablets to be real game-changers, especially people who do a significant amount of processing in Photoshop, Elements, or another image editor.

Lightroom can be a real game-changer as well. Note that it was designed to work around a Raw processor, and not as an "image editor" (with all the graphical tools found in Photoshop and the others). But what Lightroom does well is give you the ability to efficiently deal with quantities of photos, appying your adjustments on batches and varying versions, and in the end outputting them for your desired purpose. In fact the newer versions of LR even have the nifty ability to directly convert and "Publish" shots to online hosts like Facebook and Flickr, with no need to step out of the LR interface to do uploading and such. Pretty nifty.

Just got an intuos4 small. First impressions are that there is a large learning curve to using a pen/tablet, but I already see the potential for it to be great.

I just bought the small based on a video I saw over on Phlearn. Arriving today.

We'll see how it goes.

Hah, funny you should mention that. I had just gotten the bamboo create, but after seeing that video I took it back and got the intuos4. It's sitting in the car as we speak.

I had not used the create yet, but I thought he had a very good point about the size, and small being a better fit for most people. I thought about getting one of the smaller bamboo tablets, but since the intuos4 small was the same price, and it was a gift, I just did an even exchange.
