Hi all, Merry Xmas just wondering which small tripod/s people on here would recommend for using with Flashguns. I shoot downhill biking and need some small tripods to hold the flashes on uneven ground?

Thanks

Matt

Have you thought about light stands? Thats what I use. Something like the tried and true Manfrotto Nano: LINK (external link)

I just bought this Manfrotto 7322YB M-Y Tripod with Ball Head during the recent Black Friday sale to be used for my portable audio recorder and other "lighter" stuff. Its rotating selectors allow you to change the leg angle, and its built-in ball head can adjust the angle of your flash. Once folded, it's very compact and light. It comes with a very nice material cover, too.

If you don't need the height of a traditional tripod or stand, the Gorillapod SLR-Zoom fitted with a Giottos MH-1004 Pro mini ball head is an exceptionally stable and versatile flash support system. It can be secured to poles, trees, branches, fences, chairs, cars, a bike's handlebars, rocks, and much more including a traditional tripod or light stand.

Another handy way to go is a Super Clamp with a Manfrotto 237HD goose neck flex arm fitted with a Giottos MH-1004 pro mini ball head. Amongst other uses, this can be clamped around the grip of MonoPod (or a Tripod) to raise the flash well above camera height.

Tamrac also makes a 44" ZipShot TR406 ultralight tripod. It weighs 11 ounces, can hold 3 pounds, springs open in seconds and is only 15" collapsed. It's comes with a ball head, is construced of aluminum and designed with shock cords similar to tent support poles. It could be perfect for supporting a flash!

A gorillapod SLR should work perfectly for you.

A flash clamp or two may serve you well too. Cheap and portable though you will need trees or similar to attache them - http://www.adorama.com/JTACC.html (external link)

These Velcro strips are also very handy to have on hand.
